Dr José Caballero leads the IMD World Competitiveness Center’s research team in the development and implementation of new models of assessing competitiveness. His research explores the intersection of international politics and economics.
Jose’s focus is on issues related to the competitiveness of countries from a global and comparative perspective. This includes several dimensions such as sustainable trade which explores the readiness of economies to participate in the international trading system in a manner that supports their long-term goals of economic growth, social capital development, and environmental protection. His broader research interests explores the relationship between geo-politics and long-term competitiveness.
José is an expert on international political economy and has taught at the University of Warwick (UK) and the University of the West of England (Bristol, UK). He holds a PhD (Politics and International Studies) from the University of Warwick and an MA (Social Science: Government) from Harvard University.
