If you ask ten proptech venture capitalists (VCs) where the portmanteau “proptech” came from, you’ll get ten claimants. The trusty ol’ Wayback Machine from Internet Archive shows “PropTech” on the homepage of VCs as far back as October 2014, a time when terms like “CRETech” and “RETech” were also in circulation.
